2:15 PM | Rain bands to slam the NYC metro region beginning late this afternoon or early tonight and lasting well into the night

Paul Dorian

Discussion

Bands of heavy rain are currently rotating through the Philly metro region from the southwest to the northeast and some of the rain is being accompanied by wind gusts of up to 40 mph. This same impressive area of rain will move into the New York metro region during the late afternoon or early evening hours and will dump a decent amount of rain in a short time - perhaps up to 1.5 inches. The slow-moving front causing the rain will only slowly move through this region; therefore, the threat for rain and wind will continue well into the night. Once the front clears the region late tonight, colder air will move in and the next several days will feature temperatures much closer to normal for this time of year compared to our recent balmy (and record-breaking) conditions.
