All three major airports in the DC metro region reached 66 degrees yesterday and it was a record breaker at Dulles. Another unseasonably mild day is in store here today with highs once again reaching the mid 60’s. While much of the US has enjoyed a mild winter, a good part of the rest of the world has suffered from winter's cold including places like Alaska, western Canada, parts of Asia and now Europe is in a deep freeze (e.g., Athens, Greece 35 degrees with snow showers late yesterday). February begins with a cold front slipping through the region today and then a wave of low pressure will ride along the front late tonight and early tomorrow and this will produce a chilly rain around here; especially, from the District to points south and east before clearing sets in during the afternoon. As far as January is concerned, temperatures ended up 4.7 degrees above normal (at Reagan National) and now spring training is less than three weeks away. Elsewhere in the US, there will be a major snowstorm for much of the Colorado Rockies region over the next few days and then this storm will then dump heavy snow on Kansas and Nebraska as it slides slowly northeastward.
