Our "San Diego" weather pattern continues with a persistent late night and early morning marine layer consisting of low clouds and fog that is then followed by afternoon sunshine and warm conditions. Temperatures will soar once again today well up into the mid 70’s after the fog thins out by late morning. The warmest day of the week is likely to fall on Thursday when temperatures could hit the 80 degree mark for the 1st time this year (record high is 80 degrees). It'll stay warm on Friday, but a noticeable cooling trend will take place this weekend and at the same time the threat for showers will increase. In fact, by Sunday we could actually receive some significant rainfall with temperatures confined to the low-to-mid 50's for highs. The weekend cooling trend will then reverse course early next week, but we will likely not reach the type of warmth that we've experienced this week. Elsewhere, more heavy rain will fall today in two separate parts of the country including the Deep South from Arkansas to Louisiana, and the Pacific Northwest from Washington to northern California. Also, the cherry blossoms have reached full bloom in Washington, DC and will be so for the next few days. The temperatures so far this month in DC are averaging some 10 degrees above normal.
