Discussion

Our hot weather could end with a bang later today as a cold front will approach the region from the west and it will likely cause a band of showers and thunderstorms for the afternoon and/or evening hours. Some of the storms that develop later today will be on the strong side containing brief heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts. Temperatures will not be quite as extreme today as it has been for the past couple of days and then the humidity will drop noticeably this weekend behind the front. Another cold front will move through the Mid-Atlantic region early next week and that will usher in even cooler air by next Tuesday and Wednesday.
