Discussion

An intensifying upper-level trough of low pressure will combine with a slow-moving surface cool front and a very warm and humid air mass to generate numerous showers and thunderstorms in the Mid-Atlantic during the next 24 hours. Some of the rainfall will be heavy and there is the chance for severe weather to include damaging winds and hail as the atmosphere becomes quite unstable given the cooling in the upper atmosphere combined with the very warm conditions at ground level. Skies may clear somewhat tomorrow night just in time for the viewing of the Perseid meteor shower which peaks this weekend.
