Discussion

Today will be quite a nice day with comfortable warmth and moderate humidity values as high pressure builds into the region. Big changes are, however, coming later this weekend. A strong cold front will advance towards the east on Saturday and clouds will increase in the Mid-Atlantic region. Low pressure will likely form along the front by late Saturday night and this low will spread periods of rain into the region as it pulls to the northeast. It’ll turn out to be much colder on Sunday as the nationwide cold blast finally makes it to the east coast. There is the chance that some higher elevation locations from West Virginia to upstate Pennsylvania see some snowflakes as the colder air pours in on Sunday as well as in the interior sections of New York State and New England. The chill will last into Monday, but then temperatures should moderate some on Tuesday and Wednesday. There are, however, more cold air masses likely to drop out of Canada into the Northeastern US during the next week or two.
