Discussion

A cold front will approach the region today and should sweep off the east coast by later this evening. Southwest winds ahead of the front should boost temperatures to close-to-normal levels this afternoon, but then it’ll drop to well below normal again on Thursday as highs will do no better than the lower 60’s (normal high is still around 71 at Reagan National Airport). High pressure will build in on Thursday and then another cold front will swing through later Friday, probably on the dry side, and that will usher in colder air for Saturday. Finally, by late in the weekend low pressure will form over the Great Lakes region and, from this location, it should push milder air into the Mid-Atlantic to close out the weekend.
