Discussion

Low pressure will head northeast today towards the western Atlantic Ocean region just off the Mid-Atlantic coastline and it should undergo some late day and early evening intensification as colder air pushes in from the northwest. Precipitation will begin early today as a mix of rain and snow, but then should fall primarily in the form of snow in the western and northern suburbs and even in the city by the mid-afternoon. Snow is likely to accumulate between 1 and 3 inches to the N and W of NYC with isolated higher amounts. Slightly lesser accumulation amounts are expected in the city and to all points south and east. The storm pulls away this evening and temperatures will drop to the upper 20’s after reaching daytime highs in the upper 30’s. The rest of the week looks to be quite cold and dry with some sunshine each day.
