Discussion

Last night's clipper system turned out to be a dud for most Mid-Atlantic locations and another one will approach the region tonight bringing with it the chance for more snow showers. In fact, snow showers can occur anytime this afternoon as temperatures climb into the low-to-mid 30's with a coating to an inch or so in spots. This next clipper may be the last in a series of clippers that have affected us since late last week. These fast-moving clippers have also consistently affected the Northern Plains, Upper Midwest, and Ohio Valley in recent days. Chicago, IL has now had 4 consecutive days with measureable snow for the 1st time since 2009 and many areas from the Northern Plains to the Jersey coast have had a similar active period.

By the end of the week, we will have a more ominous threat as we will finally have a change in the weather pattern as "southern" moisture will get involved with a system that could ultimately become quite a storm just off the east coast. There is the chance for rain, ice and/or snow around here between Thursday night and Friday night, and parts of New England and New York State could end up with quite a snowfall at the end of the week/beginning of the weekend.
