The weather in the NYC metro region will produce a touch of summer today and tomorrow as temperatures climb to within a few degrees of 80 on both days. A weak frontal system will drop southward through New England to our area tomorrow night causing clouds and possibly a few showers and thunderstorms, and then our wind direction on Thursday will shift to out of the east or northeast behind this weak front and this should make it noticebly cooler along with some light rain or drizzle. Thursday could turn out to be the kind of day where it is holding in the 50’s around here while at the same time it reaches the mid 80’s in DC. A stronger cold front to our west will close in from the Great Lakes region by Friday generating cool conditions here and periods of rain to close out the work week. Cooler weather will then continue this weekend, but skies should clear on Saturday allowing for sunshine although there will be a stiff breeze. Elsewhere, an active weather pattern continues today across much of the country with a springtime snowstorm from the southern Rockies to the Northern Plains, and a severe weather threat across the central Plains from Texas to Iowa.
