Discussion

A back door cold front has dropped southward overnight through the local area and it has caused a shift in our winds from a southwesterly to a northeasterly direction and, given the cold ocean temperatures, this will make it cooler compared to yesterday's record-breaking heat (89 at Philly Airport). A more conventional west-to-east moving cold front will approach the region later tonight and Friday bringing with it periods of rain and perhaps a few strong thunderstorms. Once the front sweeps off the east coast by tomorrow night, drier air will return to the region and the weekend is shaping up to be pretty decent with high temperatures not far from 60 degrees each day. It'll turn warmer early next week and temperatures could reach or surpass 70 degrees on Monday and Tuesday.
