Discussion

One of the coldest air masses in years is causing a brutal start to the day, but we’ll get some slight modification in temperatures this afternoon and that trend will try to accelerate on Thursday and Friday. The transition from the cold to much milder conditions for Saturday is likely to bring a burst of snow and/or ice early Friday from DC-to-Philly-to-NYC before the milder air takes full control. In fact, it could get nasty early Friday with this burst of snow/ice as it'll likely arrive just before or during the morning rush hour. Temperatures on Saturday should climb to 50 degrees or above, but there will be periods of rain with the milder weather and the rain can get heavy during the afternoon and nighttime hours. Clearing skies on Sunday will be accompanied by very windy conditions and temperatures dropping during the afternoon hours.
