Discussion

A moisture-laden storm will pull out of the South today and head right for the Mid-Atlantic coast by later tonight. Rain should develop here early tonight and it will then evolve into a soaking rain in the overnight hours and through much of Thursday. Rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.0 inches are possible here between tonight and later Thursday. An upper level low will then combine with a strong cold frontal system to generate more possible rain showers here late Thursday night and, as colder air filters into the region, there can be a changeover to snow showers Friday morning. The rest of Friday will feature gusty winds, possible snow showers, and temperatures holding steady during the afternoon in the 30’s. The Arctic chill will then stick around here right into early next week followed by a brief warmup on Tuesday.
