Discussion

Pitchers and catchers report this week, which is the first sure sign of spring, and temperatures could actually reach 60 degrees on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Snow fell last night from just south of DC (e.g., Culpepper, Springfield, Fredericksburg) to points farther south with the heaviest snow recorded across southern and central Virginia where reports of up to 8 inches were seen. The Mid-Atlantic storm that caused that snow is now well off of the North Carolina coast and is continuing to pull away from the coast this morning. High pressure will now work its way into the region into Tuesday before moving off to the east. A weak front will then move through the region later Tuesday and it could spark a shower or two. A stronger front will pass through by the weekend, and that will end the unseasonably mild weather that we'll experience during the second half of the week.
