Discussion

A bubble of high pressure will slide eastward from the central Plains over the next couple of days and this will cause an eastern extension of the hot and humid air mass into the Mid-Atlantic region. Temperatures will likely climb to 90 degrees today and into the 90’s on Friday, but the most extreme readings expected during this weekend heat wave will be across the Tennessee Valley, Middle South and Southeast US where many records can be broken. Meanwhile, a frontal boundary will likely stall in our vicinity over the weekend and this should result in scattered thunderstorms each day during this upcoming heat spell.
