Discussion

A large area of moisture that had its origins over the tropical Pacific Ocean has made its way to the Mid-Atlantic region and we'll experience occasional showers today with a possible thunderstorm or two mixed in and some of the rain can be heavy at times. It’ll become warmer and more humid today and that higher humidity will stick around on Wednesday as well which will turn out to be a very warm and humid day. A weak cool front will then slip through by early Thursday and, while it’ll still be quite warm, humidity levels will drop slightly for Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile, a big weather story across the country later this week will be an invasion of much colder air into the Rockies and Northern Plains and the strong frontal system at the leading edge of that colder air mass should reach the east coast this weekend. The overall weather pattern looks quite chilly in much of the country including the Mid-Atlantic region once we get past this warm week and into the latter part of the weekend.
