7:00 AM | More wet weather coming next few days...mixed picture for the weekend

Paul Dorian

The cold front that passed through the region on Monday has stalled just offshore and low pressure will ride along its boundary zone over the next 24 hours.  This system can generate more showers in the region from later today and tonight, but most of the precipitation will stay just to our east.  Upper-level low will then intensify over the Northeast US by Thursday and will likely produce rain and possible thunderstorms around here from tomorrow night into Thursday.  The weather does improve some on Friday as we end the work week and it should be quite nice to start the holiday weekend; however, showers threaten for Sunday and Monday.

7:00 AM | Wet pattern through Thursday...nicer on Friday and Saturday, showers threaten for Sunday and Monday

Paul Dorian

A cold front will close in on the east coast today and generate rain in much of the I-95 corridor and maybe a thunderstorm or two.  This front will stall just offshore and low pressure will ride along impacting the region later tomorrow into Wednesday.  Another front approaches the east coast on Thursday keeping the weather quite unsettled with another shot at showers and thunderstorms. High pressure will follow for the end of the week and stick around into the upcoming weekend likely giving us nice weather for Friday and Saturday, but showers threaten for Sunday and Monday.

7:00 AM | Unsettled pattern this week with welcome rain possible on multiple occasions; however, some storms can be strong

Paul Dorian

The weather becomes unsettled this week as a large-scale upper-level trough sets up in the eastern US.  Moisture content looks sufficient for the chance of showers and thunderstorms across central Florida through mid-week which is welcome news; however, some of the thunderstorms that form over the next few afternoons can be on the strong-to-severe side.  A weak frontal passage will bring some drier air into the region during the end of the week.

7:00 AM | Unsettled pattern going through mid-week

Paul Dorian

Quite a pattern change is in store for the eastern US this week as large-scale upper-level troughing will set up and result in a couple different frontal systems that can impact our weather.  The first front of note is likely to swing through the Tennessee Valley on Tuesday/Tuesday night and this will raise our chances of showers and thunderstorms.  Another front is likely to push through the region Wednesday/Thursday and this will keep it unsettled around here until drier air arrives late in the week.

2:45 PM | *Threat for showers and thunderstorms next several hours as cold front approaches - some of the storms can be strong*

Paul Dorian

A cold front is pushing towards the east coast and scattered showers and thunderstorms are now popping in areas to the west of the I-95 corridor. The coverage of showers and thunderstorms should increase over the next couple of hours and can impact the I-95 corridor from mid-afternoon to late evening. While many areas will not get hit, any storm can produce gusty winds, cloud-to-ground lightning and brief downpours. The chances for showers and thunderstorms will tend to increase as one goes farther southwest along I-95 with DC, for example, having a better shot than New York City.

7:00 AM | Somewhat unsettled next few days with daily chance of showers/storms

Paul Dorian

High pressure in the eastern half of the nation will continue to provide us with very warm conditions and highs not far from the 90 degree mark this afternoon.  The threat for showers and thunderstorms will stay with us through the weekend as moisture has increased in the area and the greatest chance will likely be later Sunday into Monday as a strong cold front approaches the region.

7:00 AM | Another very warm day, but weekend looks much cooler

Paul Dorian

It’ll stay quite warm and humid today with highs near 90 degrees to end the work week, but there is relief coming this weekend as a cold front pushes through the region.  As the front arrives later today, there will likely be scattered showers and thunderstorms and an isolated storm can be on the strong-to-severe side.  Behind the front, low-level winds will shift from southwest to east-to-northeast and that will bring much cooler air into the region from off of the still-chilly waters of the western Atlantic Ocean.  Temperatures this weekend are likely to generally be held in the 60's for highs on both days.  On Monday, a strong cold front is likely to produce showers and thunderstorms up and down the I-95 corridor as it pushes eastward from the Ohio Valley.

7:00 AM | Somewhat unsettled pattern has kicked in...daily chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms

Paul Dorian

High pressure centered offshore will be reinforced by stronger high pressure maintaining an east-to-southeast low level flow around here.  Moisture will increase slightly as we head into the weekend and this will increase our chances for scattered shower and thunderstorm activity as we head through the weekend and into the early part of next week.
