Right around 90 degrees for highs through Thursday

Paul Dorian

The 4th of July featured a high temperature of 91 degrees at Reagan National Airport which was the 16th time this summer that we hit reached or surpassed 90 degrees. It wasn’t as hot here; however, as it was this time last year as we were in the midst of quite a heat wave back then. In fact, temperatures reached 102 degrees last year on July 6th and 7th following a high of 94 degrees on the 4th of July. No such heat wave this year, but temperatures will be close to 90 degrees for highs from today through Thursday. A front to our south will push northward as a warm front later tomorrow and this could set off a thunderstorm or two from late tomorrow through Thursday. We could actually use some more rain around here as the month of June ended quite dry and warm with temperatures averaging 4.2 degrees above normal and precipitation almost an inch and a half under normal values. Today- mainly sunny, very warm, moderate humidity, near 90

Tonight- nice night for a Nationals game…mainly clear, mild, near 70 for lows

Wed- mainly sunny, very warm and more humid with a thunderstorm threat later in the afternoon and again tomorrow night, highs near 90

Thurs- partly sunny, very warm and humid, chance for a shower or thunderstorm, highs near 90

Fri- mainly sunny, warm, slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm, upper 80’s

Sat- mainly sunny, warm, mid-to-upper 80’s
