Discussion

A slow-moving cold front generated rain in the region last night and it will work its way off the east coast today. High pressure will build into the region on Friday and remain nearby through the weekend. Although a shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out from Friday through Sunday, most of the time should be rain-free with comfortable temperatures and humidity levels.

Looking ahead to early next week, it looks like the humidity and warmth will increase as will the threat for showers and thunderstorms. The first glance at the weather on the 4th of July (next Friday) is for slightly cooler-than-normal temperatures around here in the Mid-Atlantic region and much cooler-than-normal over the Midwest/Great Lakes.
